While you may associate the Barkan name primarily
with management services for condominium, cooperative
and rental housing, Barkan Properties, LLC has a
long history in the New England real estate development
industry.
Founded in 1975 as Barkan Properties and doing
business since 2001 as Barkan Properties LLC,
our portfolio includes properties throughout New
England that we have developed ourselves or in
association with partners.
Beginning in the 1960s and on through the 1980s
we devoted our energies to construction and development,
becoming one of the leading New England firms in
the field. We spent the decade of the 1990s strengthening
and expanding our management services, finding acceptance
to the extent we are now the largest third-party
manager of residential housing in New England with
more than 13,000 units in our portfolio.
With the emergence of John Barkan as a second
generation principal, in 2000 we re-entered the
development marketplace. We are now actively seeking
opportunities where we can use the skills and experience
we have developed in construction, ownership and
property management to add significant value to
projects.
